Tonight, Nick News will feature a special called, "Out of Sight: How Blind Kids See the World." On this episode, they will feature five blind kids from across the country as they tell their stories and give insight into their lives, showing that they are pretty much just like their sighted friends and classmates. This is a great chance to show the general public a more accurate picture of blindness and blind people.

Blind kids do the same things sighted children do. Like play in the laundry basket. |

Get yourself a cold drink and let's watch some good TV tonight! |
I liked it. I think it was a good overview for kids who have little to no real knowledge of blindness. I really enjoyed "Chris" who reminded me a lot of my husband. :)
ReplyDeleteI think Out of Sight would be perfect for use in classrooms. The children were presented as individuals and allowed to share their personal experiences. I liked that it was very much from their perspective and in their own voices.
ReplyDeleteThe only awkward points or missteps were made during the voice overs from the host. Beginning with how "horrible" it would be to be blind wasn't my favorite. Show what they can do! Oh wait, there's not enough time to show all that:)
Chris was funny! All those kids were quite mature and impressive. They were great representatives of the blind community.
Hi, Jessica! I wanted to see this show so much, but unfortunately i can't in my location.I'm from small country and here isn't so much information about blind kids. My little baby boy was born with anophthalmia (when there isn't eye at all) in one eye and also won't see with another. So i'm searching for information about blind kids, because this all is so unknown and new for me. In my language there isn't so much information and there isn't any blogs about blind parenting. There are days when i feel so tired and hopeless (because we need visit many doctors and he will need surgery).. But i found your blog and want to tell you thank you. Thank you for this blog and your story. And your inspiration . When i read your blog i see that everything will be okay. I just wanted to say it. And sorry for my english, which probably is terrible. Aija.
