Detroit EUA

Another successful car trip!
Derek and I are so relieved by the news we got from Dr. Capone after Thomas' EUA (examination under anesthesia). His retinas look stable in both eyes so there is no need for surgery. Glaucoma pressure readings were also great for both eyes (in the teens for the right eye and low 20's for the left eye!)

I was sort of hoping and dreading the idea of another surgery. Hoping because I would love to be able to remove some more scar tissue or make something function better in his eye. Dreading it because I hate putting him through surgery and recovery. He is much older and stronger than when he had those first surgeries. It would be quite a fight now. But we are very lucky to have him with light perception in both eyes and probably the ability to see some large shapes with the right eye.

Retinas are extremely delicate! Since we have some good eye function it's better to leave things as they are rather than risk another surgery. We left Beaumont very relieved and very thankful.
