I get so many readers but I only have 41 followers. I am curious about the readers of Tom's blog so I am putting some questions out there for you. Please leave me a comment and tell me a little about your self and answer any or all of these questions...
- Why do you read Thomas Marshall Does It All?
- Are you blind? Do you have blind children?
- How did you find our blog?
- Where are you from? We get some great international traffic on this site.
- Do you have any questions for us? Are there any topics you want me to write about?

Why do you read Thomas Marshall Does It All?
ReplyDeleteBecause Tom is so cute and you are a great blogger.
Are you blind? Do you have blind children?
No and yes.
How did you find our blog? list serv?
Where are you from? NH
Do you have any questions for us? Are there any topics you want me to write about? Which is more difficult to deal with Tom's blindness or the related and unrelated medical issues/procedures he has/had?
Hi! We live in Colorado and are in the process of adopting a VI 2 year old. I found your site by googling IPad apps for VI children. We don't yet have an ipad but have found your site to be inspiring and helpful in other areas as well.
ReplyDeleteHi - I've posted comments a few times, but I figured I would de-lurk as requested too. I find your blog to be a great source of inspiration for us and a source of ideas for our son who is also blind. We found the blog through... you know I don't even know at this point :) A google search? There aren't many blogs about raising blind children so we were bound to stumble upon it. We are from New York City. Our son had ROP and his retinas detached even after two vitrectomies and right now we are waiting to see if they become less stiff so they can try again to reattach them. I love hearing about Thomas overcoming challenges and we hope to use many of the lessons here for Benjamin as he gets older. Thanks for having such a great blog.
ReplyDeleteHi there. My name is Holly. I love reading your blog because Tom is cute and your a great mama with wonderful ideas. My girl Elsa is visually impaired and i suppose that is how i found your blog. Look forward to keeping in touch as our babies grow up. Keep up the good work. xoxoxoxo Holly highway59.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteBecause...we can't get enough Tom :)
ReplyDeleteHi, I’m an 18-year-old girl from Finland, Northern Europe. I have been reading your blog for a while simply because I find it interesting. I tend to read ‘mommy blogs’ every now and then (slight baby fever here at times) and I like learning about blindness. This blog is just perfect because it's about both blindness and parenting. :)
ReplyDeleteI just came across your blog this week and it brought tears to my eyes. Our son Carter is 2 1/2 and is also visually impaired due to Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) and we see Dr. Trese in Royal Oak Michigan. We are from Forest, Ontario, Canada. It is has been an emotional journey for us and we are learning new things everyday to help our son. I was thinking of purchasing him an IPad and was not sure about it until I read your blog.

I'm a lurker... I read every entry but never post comments (mostly because I comment to you when we talk!) I always enjoy your posts and, as Tom's grandma, I am interested in all things Tom! Mom
ReplyDeleteWhy do you read Thomas Marshall Does It All?
ReplyDeleteI love hearing the parent's point of view, and really enjoy your posts! You have a great way of covering both the emotional and the educational sides of having a child with special needs.
Are you blind? Do you have blind children?
I'm not, and I don't. I do, however, work in the field of Special Education, and I've had blind and visually impaired students on my caseload.
How did you find our blog?
I honestly can't remember! I stumbled upon it through some sort of featured blog search or blog site, though - it wasn't through a google search. Maybe Top Mommy Blogs?
Where are you from?
I'm originally from outside of Washington, D.C., but I now live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Do you have any questions for us? Are there any topics you want me to write about?
I haven't gone through all of your archived posts, so you may have already covered this, but I'd love to read about when you first found out that Tom was blind, and how you went about accessing services to support him!
Thanks for sharing Tom with us!
I love to read your blog because Tom is soooo cute and you share many great ideas, tips, tricks and resources I ought to check out. I found useful was the posts about iPad apps and free stuff (books) that are available, services that Tom is getting that I should make sure Orion has... I like to make sure I leave no stone unturned.
ReplyDeleteMy nearly 19-month old boy is deafblind (microphthalmia). I think I came across your info in the MAPS Mom Facebook group page.
I'm originally from Seattle, WA, now living in Maryland just outside DC.
Tom is glowingly full of potential. Keep on sharing what you learn and his trials and accomplishments.
I am a little late for the de-lurking date, but I still wanted to share my information.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Wendy Mentzer, and I live in Bellaire, OH. It is about an hour south of Pittsburgh near Wheeling, WV. I am currently employed as a French and English teacher in the Bellaire Local School District.
This past summer, I just completed Ohio State University's TVI program and am hoping to enter their O&M program when there is an opening. I did my student teaching in June and July at the Ohio State School for the Blind, and I enjoyed working with the students there. I am hoping to find employment as a TVI soon. I love my current job, but I feel that I have a "calling" to work with children with visual impairments.
I found your blog through the BRL website while I was browsing their children's books. I enjoy reading it because it is informative. I was always told during my TVI classes that this is a small field, so we must network and help one another to be successful. I also like to read about Tom and his cute little antics. He is simply adorable!!
Once school is out for the summer, I need to drag out my brailler and practice since I have not had an opportunity lately to work on my Braille. Maybe I will find some time and Braille something for Tom. : )
Please keep sharing with us. I am looking forward to watching Tom grow up and seeing all the he will accomplish in life.
Thanks for saying Hi Wendy! As a TVi, we would love to have your ideas and comments. Always looking for info and suggestions from people in the field. I am always hearing that families need more TVI's in their area so you should have your pick!
DeleteBRL is great! They have such nice and affordable Braille books. If you want some practice I can mail you some of Tom's print books to Braille!
Hi, just found your blog recently. I'm Mandy and live in southern Ohio. My 2 year old son was born with congenital heart defects and has undergone open heart surgeries and other heart related procedures. I find it interesting to see how other parents handle different health related issues besides the heart. I think those of us who go through these things are a special type and have to stick together! I love how positive you are and look forward to reading the rest of your blog, God bless!
ReplyDeleteHi Mandy- I agree, having a child with health problems challenges you and changes you in ways you couldn't imagine. I have learned a lot in this journey and sharing info and sticking together is very important :)
DeleteBest to you and your son,
Jessica
