What are Federal Quota Funds? I'm glad you asked! The Federal Act to Promote the Education of the Blind was enacted by Congress in 1879. Students who meed the definition of blindness should be added to an annual registration of students so they can receive Federal Quota Funds to purchase educational materials.
The APH is the designated provider of these educational materials. Your TVI should be the one to enroll your child in this program and process your order. They may have already been ordering items from the APH for your child. If you child is in school, then their school should have signed them up to purchase school materials for them.
This APH play tray provide a good background for presenting toys and items. The toys really pop against the black tray. It also make a good puddle to splash in. |
So what type of products does the APH make? They make all the cool items listed on this page and much more. Check out these links to see some great products:
- From Fred's Head Blog - Oldies but Goodies - Tried and true products from the American Printinghouse for the Blind.
- Check out the APH's Early Childhood section.
One of my favorite APH books, "the Littlest Pumpkin." Great texture and contrast with a fun story. |
I saw that the APH has a new CVI site - tons of good resources there.
