Oldies but Goodies from APH

Tom and his APH lighbox.
Does your child get items from the American Publishinghouse from the Blind? If your child meets the federal definition of blindness they should! Ask your child's TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) to sign your child up for Federal Quota Funds.

What are Federal Quota Funds? I'm glad you asked! The Federal Act to Promote the Education of the Blind was enacted by Congress in 1879. Students who meed the definition of blindness should be added to an annual registration of students so they can receive Federal Quota Funds to purchase educational materials.

The APH is the designated provider of these educational materials. Your TVI should be the one to enroll your child in this program and process your order. They may have already been ordering items from the APH for your child. If you child is in school, then their school should have signed them up to purchase school materials for them.

This APH play tray provide a good background for presenting toys and items.
The toys really pop against the black tray. It also make a good puddle to splash in.

If you have a hard time getting information about this program you can contact the Ex Officio Trustee in your state. They administer the Federal Quota Funds.

So what type of products does the APH make? They make all the cool items listed on this page and much more. Check out these links to see some great products:

One of my favorite APH books, "the Littlest Pumpkin."
Great texture and contrast with a fun story.
While you are at it, become friends with the APH on Facebook to stay connected and get updates about educational products and tools for daily living.

I saw that the APH has a new CVI site - tons of good resources there.
