I'm already a follower of this blog. It's my FAVORITE. I've learned what a difference it makes to a special needs child to have a mother that is SO involved & encouraging.
ReplyDeleteEvery post is my favorite, but i particularly like the baby pictures of Thomas.

I read your blog regularly but never followed. Now I'm following! I just love your blog and you and Tommy! You've really opened my eyes that vision issues aren't really as scary as I once thought. Love all your practical advice! :)

love your blog! i was born with a vision disorder back in the 80s, my parents really struggled with how to get help for me since resources were much more limited and because my disorder is so rare...i was one of the first people in the US diagnosed with it! i love that you share so many great stories to show that even with a disability that life is still amazing and even ordinary! my parents never held me back and your family does such a great job with Thomas making sure that he gets the very best care, but that he does every day things like playing on the computer! now that I have children of my own I constantly worry about their vision, but your blog just reminds me to take it in stride!

Thank you! PHPV is more commonly known now but Tom has the double whammy of having it both severe and bilateral. He sure doesn't let it stop him though:)
DeleteI can only imagine how hard it was before IDEA and 504s to have a child with a disability in school. Your parents must have worked hard on your behalf!
by the way...I have PHPV...left eye only, retinal detachment and all...1981 when I was diagnosed with it at Johns Hopkins there were only 10 other cases out there!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteLove Tom's haircut! Hoping to win a calendar. You do a great job with this blog. I am your faitful follower. Aunt Cheryl
Derek has been cutting Tom's hair with his clippers. It is an adventure!
DeleteI'd love to have one of these calendars!
ReplyDeleteI only came across this blog a few months ago but I've been an avid follower ever since. Thank you for sharing Tom and your family's story. I appreciate the practical insights (Ipad apps, etc) as well as those simple posts from the heart (particularly the birthday video). We downloaded some of Tom's favorite apps. Noah loves the Peekaboo Farm too. Looking forward to seeing Tom in his Halloween costume!
ReplyDeletePeekaboo Farm is just adorable. Have you tried the Oceanhouse Media book apps? They work so well for Tom because of the autoplay feature, and the titles are great.
DeleteI am always looking for app ideas to share so let me know if you have any app suggestions.
So glad to hear you enjoy the blog!
Jessica

I love your blog! I read it to learn more about Tom and his successes. I enjoyed the blog posts that featured Tom and his white cane. I think it is awesome that a child this young has been introduced to one.
