When I found out Thomas was blind I searched the internet for information and blogs about blind children. I didn't find much then, but that was three years ago and now there are many great blogs written by families with blind children. It's one thing to read a book but it's completely different to take a peek into someone's life. That's what these blogs are like.
I follow many blogs. They can be addictive! I recently realized that I was leaving out two of my favorite blogs so check out the updated Tom's Favorite Blogs list on the right hand side of the page.
Newest Additions to Tom's Favorite Blogs:
A Mom's Musings
Heather is a mother to three young children and her blog often focuses on her son Orion, who is Deafblind. Deafblind does not mean competely Deaf and completely blind - the level of hearing and sight is unique to each individual. Orion is a special little dude and this family does everything possible to give him what he needs to develop and learn. You can find great information on Deafblindness and some amazing resources here. I enjoy seeing how they make everyday experiences into learning opportunities for Orion and he seems to just soak it up.
My Little Rays of Sunshine
Jenn writes about her three little girls (and another little one on the way!). Her second daughter Hanna is visually impaired and was featured in a guest post in October. She is a little medical mystery child like my Tommy, and I love to watch her progress through the blog.
Happy reading!
I love Jenn's blog! Her girls are angels.
ReplyDeleteJessica, thanks for the hat tip! Your son's blog is one of my favorites, too. :::Heather
