Read (Braille) Across America

We have had brief moments of excitement because the voting for About.com's Reader's Choice is going so well! (Go here to vote for Thomas Marshall Does It All). We need your votes every day to stay in the running.  

So yes, it has been exciting to be a part of this vote for favorite parenting blog but Tom is sick. He has spent most of the past couple days looking more like the picture below. 

He is down for the count!

We went to see the doctor yesterday and found out he has an ear infection and sore throat with enlarged tonsils. I knew something was up when Tom slept for 13 hours on Monday night! He's gotta rest up because Read Across America is coming up on March 1st!

Read Across America is usually on March 2nd (Dr. Seuss' birthday) but because that falls on the weekend, schools and libraries will celebrate on Friday March 1st with a reading extravaganza. For us, a celebration of reading Braille!

Naturally, the NFB wants to make sure Braille is a part of Read Across America. You can submit pictures of people/children reading Braille in cool and notable places. Your picture could show up on nfb.org, the NFB's Facebook page, or tweeted by @NFB_Voice.

At the very least, take some time to read with your child on March 1st or 2nd to celebrate Read Across America! 

We just got some new Braille books to read from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and a couple that I ordered for Valentine's day from the National Braille Press. We are ready to read! And yes, we have Green Eggs and Ham all ready to go as well.
