When you wait longer for your child to speak their words become precious. Just reaching out and calling for Mom is a huge deal, while speaking in a full sentence is cause for celebration.
Today Tom went home early from school because his Grandma ( and his ride home) took a half-day off. Tom and his Grandma were talking about where Tom's Dad is and had the usually discussion that Dad is in Ohio for work. Tom said, "I want Dad to come home. I miss him."
Those are such simple words but they so clearly express his understanding that his dad is away and his feelings and desire to see his Dad. That is something I am thankful for as we head into Thanksgiving.
