Tom is a little ball of destruction and energy. He goes from room to room causing chaos. I say that with pride because Tom was born with many challenges and it is impressive that he is so bold and active. He is a special little guy.
But this guy also needs an outlet for all of his energy. A couple months ago we bought him a trampoline thinking it would be a great way to burn off some of his energy. He was not enthusiastic about his trampoline at first but now he is an expert. He bounces with such force that he moves the whole trampoline a little further across the room with each jump. He usually stops jumping when he can't move the trampoline with his jumps anymore.
Being a typical child, he will not jump when you ask him too. It has to be HIS decision. Tom had his last six-month-evaluation today for Early Intervention. All of his therapists came over to discuss new goals for his last six months and then finalize them. They wanted to see Tom jump on his trampoline but he would not do it. Kids!
The evaluation went great! His therapists include me in goal writing process and always check to see if I have the resources I need. This is an excellent time to speak up and ask for resources (like educational items purchased from Quota funds.) If another mother told you they have something that you feel your child would benefit from ask your coordinator about it. With all of your therapists in one place someone is bound to have the information you need.
Without further ado, here is Tom on the trampoline today!
Hello Tom, happy to see that u jump and play with trampoline..i will pray for you and hope one day, i can visit you too. Wish you luck..xoxo :)
ReplyDeleteHe is so adorable. He has a huge smile.
ReplyDeleteLove the video - his giggle is awesome when you say you are going on the trampoline. Glad to hear you have a good relationship with his therapists.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and sat down and read most of your posts. I work in Early Intervention in Texas, and have worked with children with all kinds of delays and medical issues. I truely enjoyed hearing about your experiences from a parents perspective. This will make me better at my job for all my families, so thank you! You have worked so hard with Thomas, and it shows.
