Where is Tom? & EUA update

Tom is everywhere! You can find a picture of Tom and his speech language pathologist (SLP) hard at work together in the Spring/Summer Issue of Facets Magazine. Tom's SLP, Sameera Dehaithem, is getting her clinical doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh and the University's Publication for the School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences wrote an article about her. We are so lucky to work with Sameera! She and Tom really get along well together and he genuinely enjoys their therapy sessions together.

just hanging out
It was so cool that she choose Tommy to appear in her photo shoot for the article that Pitt's Facets Magazine was doing on her. You can check out Sameera and Tom in Issue 27 Spring/Summer 2012 by going to the Facets website. It's the very last article, but you can see Tom enjoying some feeding therapy with his buddy Sameera.

Then I realized that I never mentioned that this blog and a great big picture of Tom was featured in ROPARD's December 2011 Newsletter. ROPARD (Retinopathy of Prematurity And Related Diseases)  was also kind enough to list Thomas Marshall Does It All as the "One Mom's Blog"on their website. If you have a minute check out the links page on ROPARD. I have never seen so many incredible resources.

EUA Update
And yes, Tom's EUA went fine yesterday. Things look pretty much the same from what the doctors described to us. These were new doctors so it was their first time seeing Tom's unique eye anatomy up close. Somehow Tom's eyes manage to give him information. For that reason we are proceeding with new contacts to see how he reacts. When the new contacts come in we will see if Tom acts differently (i.e., holds his head up more, responds visually to light or large shapes).

Thanks for the good wishes. Tom is an old pro at anesthesia (we are lucky!) At first he was tired, but by the time we got home he was back to his rowdy old self.
