Help Tommy get a SMART Brailler!

Hi Everyone!

We are starting a Go Fund Me campaign to fund a SMART Brailler for Tommy. Tommy has been blind since birth and will be a Braille reader. He is currently a second year preschool student at the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children in Pittsburgh, PA.

Tom loved hearing the SMART Brailler talk as he typed.

The SMART Brailler speaks as you type! Auditory (sound) feedback is an incredibly effective way to reinforce learning - especially for a blind child. Tom really enjoyed trying out the SMART Brailler and I think owning one would make it easier for him to learn Braille.

Just typing away...
Recently, Tommy was in a contest through Wonderbaby.org to win a SMART Brailler. He didn't win, so we are trying to raise funds to purchase a SMART Brailler for him. The Perkins SMART Brailler usually costs $2,195.00 but we got a $500 credit from our participation in the Wonderbaby contest. Thanks Wonderbaby! That brings us so much closer to our goal.

Every donation, no matter how small, will help Tommy get closer to a valuable tool for learning Braille.

We need to raise $1,695.00. I know. It's a big number but I think we can do it. We have already raised $200 in a couple of hours.

Can you help us? Visit our Go Fund Me site - A SMART Brailler for Tommy!

Can we raise enough to get him a SMART Brailler?
Thank you!!

  1. I was going to leave you a donation and I saw that you have been fully funded. Everyone out there loves your sweet Thomas . I wish there was somehow I could raise the money for my grandson. Jonah Whois six and born blind. I don't know how to go about it.

    1. Congrats Tommy! And for those who didn't get the opportunity to donate to Tommy's fund, but still have a heart open to donate, please consider 2 other children from the contest (Clay & Adelyn) who are not yet fully funded. It's a nice way to honor Tommy by paying it forward!

    2. Yes. I shared both direct links to Clay & Adelyn's funding sites on Tommy's Facebook. I am swamped at work and working into the night on a big project so I haven't had a moment to blog. I do want to help everyone get funded though!
