Quick! Time to Babyproof.

In the past two weeks Tom's walking abilities have exploded! He is everywhere and he is getting there fast.  Now we are busy putting stuff out of his reach and buying locks for the cabinets. He is into everything and I couldn't be more proud of him. This is exactly what he should be doing! Making messes and getting into trouble. He is truly exploring his own home and finding out what he can get into.
Caught in the act!
He went from taking about 10-20 unsure steps to walking across a room, jumping up and down, and hopping and dancing. His balance has improved so much.

I think a lot of this improvement has to do with his interest in music. We are constantly playing music for him. We listen to the playlist on his iPad and Pandora internet radio. We have learned so many great new songs and children's music groups from listening to Pandora's Toddler radio.  Some of Tom's favorites are Laurie Berkner and Caspar Babypants. Laurie Berkner's song "We are the Dinosaurs" is Tom's favorite. He get up and marches around the room as soon as he hears it. If you need to motivate your child to get moving, try that dinosaur song!

Tom's cane came in the mail from the NFB last week. He has explored it and seems interested in it. We haven't tried to really get him walk with it yet. But he also hasn't tried to swing it like a bat or used it like a weapon yet!

I am going to let the O&M teacher try to get him started with the cane. For now we have just let him play around with it. I can't wait to see what Tom's O&M teacher has to say when he sees Tom because he has been out of the country for two weeks and has missed all this progress. It's going to a nice surprise for him to come back to!

Tomorrow is Halloween and we are so excited because this is the first year that Tom can really participate. We are going to trick or treat on our street and then pass out candy. I will post pictures of Tom's awesome costume tomorrow also!

Have a happy and safe Halloween with your family!
